Pôle Image Magelis

Founded in 1997 in Angoulême (France), Magelis was the first economic development cluster for the visual image to be created in France. It covers four main sectors : animation, video games, comics and audiovisual production. As a pioneer in the development of professions in visual arts, its role is to promote this sector in Charente through:
- establishing and supporting companies in the visual image sector,
- setting up training structures suited to the visual arts sector,
- organising and granting national and international events and festivals,
- carrying out urban development work.

Pôle Image Magelis in figures :
- 1st economic development cluster for the visual image to be created in France
- 2nd centre for production of animated images in France
- 1st regional aid fund for the production of animation
- 90 visual image companies, including 30 animation studios and 4 sound studios
- A labour pool of more than 1000 people
- Around 20 weeks of shooting each year for television and the cinema
- 12 visual arts schools, over 1200 students, 30 diplomas from Foundation Degree to Doctorate
